BRENT PENNINGTON Large bird tracks remain in the mud along Bear Creek at the Frances Walter Dam on the evening of 07 August 2015.

Just before the series of creek photos I posted about earlier, I grabbed this one from the kayak.  The banks are a mix of sand and thick, reddish clay, the kind that glops onto whatever it touches.

I’m pretty sure these are heron tracks, from a Great Blue.  And fairly fresh – not surprising, since I passed one only a few meters back, hunting in the marsh among the deadwood.
