I’m thrilled to introduce The Roving Photographer’s first-ever staff writer: Paul Sevensky. Paul is a familiar face around here already – or at least a familiar reference, being a frequent companion on my photo outings and someone I bounce ideas off of. (In fact, he was the genius behind my last post.) He’ll be joining me here to share his own images and insights as he continues to explore this mad world of photography.
In addition to being an amateur photographer, Paul is also a communications/marketing specialist, a university professor, and a technology enthusiast. His background includes time beyond the camera, so to speak, working alongside photographers and art directors while on assignment for his clients. He began shooting with film in his college days and made the conversion to digital about ten years ago. He’s also a Nikon guy, shooting with the D40 series DSLRs. I try not to hold this against him.
In the years I’ve known Paul, I’ve watched him revitalize his passion for photography and dive into it, far deeper than I think even he expected to. His primary work is with nature & landscapes (where he has an especially good eye for the interplay between light and shadow), but he has also started exploring the joys (struggles) of wildlife photography and off-camera flash.
So a warm welcome and round of applause for Paul – can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Another Perspective, by Paul Sevensky
I’m very happy to have been invited to join The Roving Photographer. Because this blog is run by a photographer of immense talent and vision, I’m honored to be able to share a complementary – if less sophisticated – photographic perspective on some common subjects Brent and I encounter. I would also hope to provide a perspective on some topics in my own right and perhaps even a short note about current photo industry technology. Coming from a former life in film (a long time ago in college) and recently adapting to digital, I will try very hard to be a productive part of The Roving Photographer. And yes, although I use a Nikon now, I shot with a Canon SLR in the pre-digital days. Looking forward to it!

Welcome Paul
Good thing you switched to digital – not a moment too soon with Kodak going into the tank today.
I was going to ask if I’m allowed to leave my usual inappropriate comments when Paul writes, but that ship has sailed.
I always assumed that you were an equal-opportunity heckler
So go on ahead!
