I’m always amazed when I watch these guys hunt.  They’re like coiled springs, suddenly launching themselves into the water, with a neck that’s almost ridiculously long appearing as if out of nowhere.  I don’t know where they put it the rest of the time, but they’re one of the few birds I know of that can sit motionless while holding such raw, barely-contained energy.
