The heat is finally breaking here, but it’s still been far, far too many days since I last had a camera in my hand. Frankly, it’s driving me a little crazy, which isn’t helped by the huge amounts of paperwork that I’ve been tackling instead. Regardless of weather, I need to get back into the field this week.
In the meantime, however, here’s a mixed bag of stuff worth taking a look at:
- Add this to the top of my list of places I want to visit: Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Best known for the wild ponies, it’s also known as an excellent birding site. I actually visited in my early teen years, well before I’d taken up photography. I recall it being a very lovely island and I’m hoping to visit again soon.
- If you haven’t already heart, Strobist has recently launched Boot Camp 3. Like the previous two boot camps, it’s all about the light. However this time, there’s also an emphasis on local community and giving back. Although I’m not shooting the assignments, I am following along, and I’ve been impressed so far.
- Looking for inspiration? From up North does a daily post featuring some of the best creative projects from across the internet. Their Photography and Photoshop posts may be the most relevant, but check out their other offerings as well – some really impressive stuff out there.
- And just for something completely different, here’s a video tutorial picked up by DIYPhotography.net featuring an underwear-clad girl showing How to build a Cycwall – the Sexy Way.

I would be up for a road trip to the horsey island
