Okay, so the true highlight of my day in NYC?  For a few minutes I got to be in the same room as Joe McNally!

Yeah, it’s dorky, and I probably sound like a little girl who just got to see her favorite boy band.  But McNally is my idol, the photographer who inspires me most.  In the midst of a session Kelby suddenly announced that he was in the back of the room; Joe stood up and waved.  Just seeing him in person was the most exciting part of my day.

Someday I’d love to meet him, get to talk to him for a little while.  Heck, getting to shoot with him would be a dream come true.  I guess we all crave the approval of our heros; McNally is mine.

Note: I assumed that photogs like McNally and Kelby were part of the same club, and that Joe’s stopping by the conference was routine.  But according to Kelby’s blog post yesterday, that’s not the case – turns out he was as surprised as the rest of us, and a heck of a lot more nervous.
